Cities and towns each comprise a micro-economy with interdependencies for determining quality of life. People in cities and towns seek a high quality of life, including the benefits of convenience. The backbone of convenience and quality of life is the availability of goods – delivered predominantly through commercial freight carriers.
The importance of balancing the need to get goods to the point of sale and of delivering a high quality of life to citizens of the region’s small, medium, and large towns is widely recognized. To discuss the issues and identify solutions, a Downtown Delivery Symposium will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. This free event will bring experts and practitioners together to discuss how to find the right balance.
This Symposium is being conducted through a joint partnership between the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association (PMTA), Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the Mid-Atlantic Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (MASITE), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
Space is limited. Registration is required. Dress code is business casual.
