Municipal leaders and staff can play an important role in protecting their community's water quality and other natural resources, but how can they gain the skills to do that? And what can we do to help, whether as citizens, technical assistance providers, or advocates? DVRPC invites you to attend a panel discussion on partnering with regional and state organizations to respond to the challenges and opportunities that exist in providing educational resources to municipalities.
Join us for this discussion at DVRPC's office on Thursday, July 12th. The schedule includes the following:
- 9:30 AM: Coffee and networking.
- 10:00 AM: Panel presentation, followed by a facilitated Q&A and a group discussion
- 12:00 PM: Lunch
We're hosting a panel of seasoned municipal educators from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Confirmed panelist organizations include:
- Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors
- Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs
- New Jersey State League of Municipalities
- New Jersey Redevelopment Authority
- Brandywine Conservancy
- Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions
Our goal for this interactive discussion is to look at municipal education as a strategy to address the loss of water quality in many streams in the Delaware River watershed--a problem that has been worsening in communities within our region for decades. Municipal education was a high-priority strategy identified during our recent project on municipal water quality actions.
We hope to see you there. Please contact Melissa Andrews, environmental planner, at [email protected] with any questions.
