The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) is hosting a Regional Traffic Incident Management Conference on Wednesday, May 16th at the Citizens Bank Ballpark. The theme this year is, Working Together Makes Us Better Prepared.
This distinctive conference will bring together traffic incident management emergency responders from a wide variety of disciplines. Local and state police, fire, EMS, DOT, towing, and other key personnel responsible for managing incidents on highways and arterials will be represented at the conference to discuss ways to safely, effectively, and efficiently clear incidents from our regional roadways.
This regional conference will be geared to our task force participants/emergency responders such as police, fire, emergency medical services, DOT, towing, and any other key personnel responsible for other aspects of responding to or managing incidents or emergencies on freeways and surface streets.

1:00 – 1:45 p.m. Keynote Speaker: Sgt. Robert Bemis, Pennsylvania State Police Retired
Sgt. Bemis stopped along the side of an interstate highway to render assistance to a disabled motorist whose vehicle was on fire when he was struck by passing vehicle approaching the scene. His story provides an account of the circumstances leading up to the accident; the emergency response; the long recovery and living with a spinal injury; the initial support; and finally, the highs and lows of returning to his role as a Trooper. He is the author of Forged in Scars & Stripes: A Trooper’s Victory over Critical Injury.
